BIOGRAPHY
Randy Troy is a writer and filmmaker drawn to high-concept genre stories with sharp character edges. His work blends kinetic set-pieces, satirical bite, and emotionally grounded stakes—treating spectacle as a delivery system for theme. With an editor’s sense of momentum and a love of worldbuilding detail, he writes scripts built to be read fast and seen clearly.
Raised in Inwood, Manhattan, Troy began acting as a child—an early start that made storytelling and set life second nature. While studying Film & Video Production at Penn State University (2007–2011), he was already working behind the scenes on professional sets (often juggling—and occasionally prioritizing—production over class). After college, he spent more than a decade working across the country on major studio productions, including The Dark Knight Rises, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
In 2019, Troy joined the Writers Guild of America—an instrumental step that helped lead to his move to Los Angeles in 2023, where he joined the writing team for Netflix’s One Piece (Seasons 2–3). He is affiliated with SAG-AFTRA and IATSE Local 871. Troy has been married to Chrissy Varley since 2022, and they have one child.
